Rockville Meet Recap and Week of 1/12

Last night our boys and girls both came out on top against Rockville! There were lots of fast swims, first time metros cuts, and lifetime bests throughout the meet. The win pushes our girls to 3-1 and our boys to 4-0, and puts us in sole possession of first place. Next week we square off against a very strong Poolesville team that currently sits 1 point back. The meet will decide who heads to divisionals with the division lead.

Going in we knew the girls meet would be a battle. We had a strong start to the meet with our girls taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th in dive. Despite a few hiccups, we strung together enough 2nd/3rd/4th place finishes to go with our 4 individual event winners (Anna x 2, Brianna, and Elizabeth) in order to win. We were only up 1 point with 2 events to go, but a strong showing on the breastroke and a come from behind victory in the 4 free relay sealed the deal 99-86. The last two meets our girls have delivered gutsy performances up and down the lineup. This toughness and resilience will be an asset heading to the postseason.

Our boys won convincingly (121-65) on the strength of 6 individual wins (Jack x2, Michael, Johnny, Daniel, and Pietro) and winning all 3 relays. Next week will be a measuring stick meet against the Poolesville Boys (4-0), who are the defending small school state champs.

Week of 1/12

  • Tuesday: There will be no practice this Tuesday. If I hear of anyone asking to leave class early this Tuesday there will be consequences. If you are a club swimmer who normally attends on Tuesday, do your best to make Wednesdays practice, but I will be lenient due to the schedule change.
  • Wednesday: regular practice at Germantown
  • Thursday (or Friday): Region Dive at Germantown
  • Friday: Team Social TBD
  • Saturday: Meet vs POO, 5:15pm @ MLK Swim Center. Please arrive by 4:45pm.
